A perfect example of the issues here on the GULF and what they are NOT doing about it!

This is just a example of what we are facing down here on the Gulf Coast. The below statement is from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Beach monitoring program. Now we all know this beach should be closed if there is any remote chance contact could possibly make someone ill.... Why are they not closing these beaches??? Tourism and $$$$

So they would rather risk the health of innocent uninformed residents as well as tourist and make some money off of them then to save their health and possibly save lives.

What is wrong with this picture???

MDEQ ISSUES WATER CONTACT ADVISORY FOR LOCATION IN JACKSON COUNTY

(JACKSON, Miss.) --

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality
(MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program issued a water contact
advisory today for a sampling station in Jackson County.   This segment of beach
is not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness
associated with swimming in that area. MDEQ is working closely with local
officials to advise residents that the water in the following location may
have high bacteria levels:

●Station 19 -- Pascagoula Beach West near Oliver Street in Pascagoula.

When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the
advisory will be lifted. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which
performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ,
notifies the agency when an area has returned to acceptable levels.

Additionally, swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a
standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours
of a significant rainfall event.
