It is time to update

I am back to update my blog as need be. Now with this Ditch situation going on in Hancock County and no telling where else on the Gulf Coast since Tropical Storm Lee, I am ticked off more then ever and someone needs to do something about this situation. People are getting sick and complaining of symptoms all related to chemical and exposure to crude oil. These people have no choice, they live and work in these communities.

A perfect example of the issues here on the GULF and what they are NOT doing about it!

This is just a example of what we are facing down here on the Gulf Coast. The below statement is from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Beach monitoring program. Now we all know this beach should be closed if there is any remote chance contact could possibly make someone ill.... Why are they not closing these beaches??? Tourism and $$$$

So they would rather risk the health of innocent uninformed residents as well as tourist and make some money off of them then to save their health and possibly save lives.

What is wrong with this picture???

MDEQ ISSUES WATER CONTACT ADVISORY FOR LOCATION IN JACKSON COUNTY

(JACKSON, Miss.) --

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality
(MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program issued a water contact
advisory today for a sampling station in Jackson County.   This segment of beach
is not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness
associated with swimming in that area. MDEQ is working closely with local
officials to advise residents that the water in the following location may
have high bacteria levels:

●Station 19 -- Pascagoula Beach West near Oliver Street in Pascagoula.

When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the
advisory will be lifted. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which
performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ,
notifies the agency when an area has returned to acceptable levels.

Additionally, swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a
standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours
of a significant rainfall event.

The reality of it all through the opinion of a local

Dear fellow Mississippi Gulf Coast residents as well as welcomed visitors of all ages,

I myself am a almost 38 year resident of our unique Hancock County. We have grown so much over the past I would say 20 years. We have overcome numerous storms and the worst Hurricane to hit our Coast. Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005 practically wiped our city off the map as well as destroying Bay St. Louis (my hometown). We have started recovery and things were and still are coming back. Things were getting better day by day. Our Main Street District is coming back beautifully. Old Town Bay St. Louis, the train depot area with our new duck pond is by far an awesome addition to our community. Holly Hester Lemoyne - Raymond and her new cafe Cypress Cafe is also a great asset to the area surrounding Old Town and the new Duck Pond.

We have begun to overcome Hurricane Katrina. Our community and surrounding communities were coming back stronger and stronger until...

April 20, 2010 when the Deep Water Horizon Disaster occurred it killed 11 men. Those families’ lives and so many others will never be the same. One year later those families are still in our thoughts and prayers. It seems like only yesterday those families’ lives were destroyed and so many more lives there after were changed and destroyed and the worst is yet to come.

Tribute to the Eleven

Our own Governor of Mississippi Haley Bourbor will not even support us and back us up. Start watching this video and see that for a fact at about 6 mins. and 20 secs. into the clip.

View Clip Here

He states people that are sick need to go to the doctor if they are sick but the doctors do not know how to diagnose much less treat the health of everyone that is affected. Our local media does not inform or cover a portion of what they should even be covering. The top news story every night should be "Caution on beaches stay off of them due to Dead Marine Life washing up daily along with chemicals and other toxins!!!"

What makes no sense is most everyone knows the EPA allowed the use of the dispersant Corexit knowing it was illegal in other countries. So why would they allow them to dump it on us? That alone should be a warning for people on our coast, and visitors and families on our beaches and swimming in our waters. I went out just yesterday in my hometown Waveland, Ms. and photographed tar balls all throughout the sections of beach I walked. I have been witnessing this for months now and the media does not touch it. In my opinion those beaches should be closed and if we won't close them until we get it all clean and know for sure that it and what is swimming in it is safe at least warn people.

To me the value of a dollar is not what is important here. It is the health of ourselves and, the people that come down to visit our state and neighboring states, our children and all living things. That is truly what is important here.

That should be on the front page of our local newspapers. Instead we have little children swimming near dead dolphins and sea turtles.

                                                                      Laurel Lockamy

Now some of our beaches in Harrison County this week have been announced closed due to high levels of bacteria.

Well, wouldn't you think the levels would be high all along our coast lines with dead marine life even household pets floating and washing up on our shores? As a concerned resident I just do not see why the media does not inform our people like they should about the possible and serious health impacts this could have on you and your children as well as our visitors. Why wouldn't we take time to make sure our Gulf is 100 percent safe before inviting folks to come down and possibly get ill? That in the long run would only be a devastating blow to our coast and our economy for years to come. Why not chance taking a blow to our economy for at least another year until further testing be done instead of making a bad name for ourselves down here on the coast? That could ruin us for years down the road. We as the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and neighboring states could get a lot more respect if we took the time to inform everyone. Instead thanks to our government officials and media we will end up getting a bad name for ourselves down here on the Gulf. I as a caring Gulf Coast resident does not want to see this happen to my hometown and I am sure other Coastal residents does not want to see this either.

I spoke out at our Attorney General Jim Hood's meeting here in Waveland last month and at least we have as one community raised our level of health concerns to him and he is addressing the issue.

Now after seeing this news article from Mississippi Public Broadcasting we may see a glimmer of hope in our future for our health; however we have had so many broken promises this past year and have heard so many lies it is hard to get our hopes set on something we hear or see until it happens.

Myself, as well as others I know walk the beaches a few times a week to daily taking photographs. Do you know that most locals to not even know there is a problem down here. They believe what they hear and mostly they hear nothing unless they are tied into one of our internet sites informing the people. Join Coastal Justice on Facebook to be linked to many folks down here telling the true story of what is really going on.

I am far from a journalist. I am far from a professional photographer, however I am just your average citizen along with so many others that just want to get the word out because if it was not for so many of us we would not be as educated as we are to this day. Thanks to so many local residents for what they have done to help get out the word for our Mississippi Coast and our neighbors. Folks like Mrs. Shirley Tillman, Laurel Lockamy, and Lorrie Williams to name a few. And that is just our Mississippi reporters of the bunch. There is others like for example Ms. Betty Doud from Grand Isle, Louisiana that keep the news and photographs circulating. I cannot begin to thank them all.

In closing I just want to state to all my readers and anyone who comes across this blog as well as all of my Coastal Justice Facebook friends, thank you and we will not give up. We will not let them win." We are the Media" and will continue to be until the real media takes over.

Thank you all for all the work you do,

Laurie G. Lambert

I Am America

I am still planning on doing a video with this song...

A picture says a 1000 words...

What is it going to take ??? What else can we possibly do other then keep talking??? Something has to give!

by Coastal Justice on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 1:22pm

It just really honestly upsets me that our locals (some of them) the ones in office and in tourism or so oblivious to the fact that our beaches are so contaimated...why would they want tourist to come see this? Not what I would want to remember on my summer vacation....Whats a few dollars missing in our community for a year or so verses a life long remembrance of how you went on vacation to the Gulf Coast and saw dead turtles, dolphins and fish and the occasional dead armadillo on the not so white beaches of our Mississippi Coast. I am a life long resident. I love our community. I am all for tourism. I have worked in tourism most of my adult life. But come on what happened to common humanity?

A message from LG

We are getting close to 1000 friends on our Coastal Justice Facebook page

...come on you guys let us reach 1000 by April 20th I know what we are all going through right now...everyone its a little bit of a different story but in one sense it is all the same... let us not forget the men and their families that were the first to be affected terribly by this.

The Deepwater Horizon, was a floating oil drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico, that exploded on April 20, 2010 killing 11 and injuring 17 oil rig workers.

Methane gas escaped from the well and shot up the drill column, expanding quickly as it burst through several seals and barriers before exploding and igniting the Deepwater Horizon.

From that day on we all as just local residents had no clue what was to come a year later and many many years to follow...we had no idea what would happen to our environment and marine life, our health and finances. In my opinion this is worst then Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and my hometown is ground zero of Katrina.

Again we shall survive or die trying....we are all fighters on the Gulf Coast. We have already proved that. My dad works offshore and most of the men in my family has on my fathers side. So it effects me in the way that it could just of easily been a family member or friend. You just never know what way life will take you.

Just go it with it.... stand up for what you believe in...fight for what you believe in...and most importantly love one another and live every day as it is your last. Do what makes you happy and follow your instincts.

I know we will not give up on this.... Thanks to everyone that shows support, does photo documentation, post links and Thank you to my new friends Dr. Riki Ott, Lisa Marie Jacobs and to Ms. Shirley Tillman. Thanks to Dahr Jamail, BBC, Bridge the Gulf.org and so many more I can not even begin to name everyone.

Keep sending out those friends request we are the MEDIA!!!!

Now to go get something for supper since I am not the house bitch lol

Thank you guys!

Prayers are with Cherri Foytlin and the Gang. Can't wait to meet you guys.

I admire everything yall are doing and going through on your journey for us all down here.

Thank you!

LIVE IN THE GULF - APRIL 17 - 21

Gulf residents and folk musicians will share stories and song to expose the Real Gulf Story––the emerging human health impacts from BP’s disaster. Speakers and contributors will put the Real Gulf Story in the larger perspective of the true costs of America’s oil dependency, America’s energy options and future, and what ordinary people are doing to create self-reliant––and more democratic––communities. Doing Democracy workshops, held in conjunction with the national grassroots movement Move to Amend, shares practical skills on how to promote human-scale economies based on human values and how to re-establish rule by the people. Interactive. Inspiring. Motivating. Co-sponsored by Louisiana Bayoukeepers.

Our Goal is to ensure the outcome of the BP Gulf Disaster is not a return to the “old oil business as usual,” where corporate profits eclipse public health, worker safety, and environmental responsibility––and leave citizens feeling helpless and disenfranchised. We are seeking holistic solutions to a systemic problem to Change the Endgame.

One Photo tells so much...

Shirley Tillman was doing her usual beach photography adventures, documenting our coast line here in Mississippi. She captured this one image last week and it says it all.

This woman needs credit for this...

Awesome job in a sad situation Mrs.Tillman

*this turtle she took the photo of was about 2 miles if that from my home in Waveland,Ms.

Be the Mouth of the South!!!

This is for our friends and family, our neighbors and our entire Gulf Coast region. April 20, 2011 will be the one year anniversary of the devastating Deep Water Horizon Gulf Oil Spill. I really hate to use the word anniversary so let me rephrase that.

One year marker of our country's worst man made disasater in history. This catastrophe has not only killed 12

of our hardworking men but have
been actually murdered by the Deep Water Horizon Explosion.17 more men were injured in this catastrophic disaster.

That right there is 28 families lives destroyed! Not only have the fishing and tourismn industry been affected however all residents have been and are still being affected by this and will for years and years to come.

These men were husbands, sons, brothers, fathers to little children and grown children.

The majority of our nation including some of our local residents here on our Gulf Coast thinks it is all over. They think the worst have been
has been taken care of. They are unaware and
undeducated about the danger we are in now from enviromental to health. From the clean up workers to the average vacationer or just coast residents

even the
coastal residents 100 miles inland are being affected and they do not even know it.

There has been a media black out on this catastrophe and we need our local and national media to coverage. The national goverment does not want to admit what is going on down here. The local goverment does not want the people to know so that we do not scare tourist away. The independent scientist along with journilist and photographers and all independent media individuals know what the truth is and what is going on down here on the Gulf. The BP workers as well as clean up workers were told not to speak to anyone for example the media about anything or they would loose their jobs and having their lives destroyed.

They tried covering all of this up with spraying of the chemical Corexit. All this did was cover it up so it was not visable and it sank to the bottom killing numerous organisms and marine life now washing up on our shores. Dolphins are washing up dead daily. And people have unexplained health issues that our doctors are not aware of and trained in chemical toxicity. Physcians and hospitals and the entire medical field needs to be immediately educated on this.

The FDA needs to revamp their "Seafood is Safe" Status. All of this is Bull Shit.
It literally has totally pissed me off and become my obession. This is taking over my life mentally. All of this is unnesecary and uncalled for and could have been prevented. With me it started with the claim process and how unfair the GCCF has been and my obession with this has personally possible effected my family and friends and my neighbors.

People are sick, people are dying. A child died within 24 hours after putting his feet in the gulf water. People are testing with high levels of petroleum and other chemicals in the bloodstream. We will go into more detail as this website grows.

The predicted 2 year recovery time that Feinberg and the GCCF has come up with for a full recovery time is a bunch of bull shit.

There is going to be a list of testing locations etc; posted on this site. Anyone who would like to contribute to any of this please contact me.

Any personal stories or research or news info please let me know.

Please contact your local media before it is too late for our Gulf Coast.

Thank You,

“Gag order” issued in dolphin death investigation — “It throws accountability right out the window” says biologist

“Gag order” issued in dolphin death investigation — “It throws accountability right out the window” says biologist

finalvideoiceman 0002

I made this by request for a local Gulf Coast neighbor of mine. Was written and performed by another local named ICEMAN. He was a local hero after Hurricane Katrina now him and his friend are both battling illness due to the chemical effects from the disaster of April 2010. Prayers go out for both of these guys as well as many others on the Gulf Coast.

It was meant to funny about a bad situation and also meant to grab the attention of anyone that will listen to us down here on the Coast. We need HELP down here and it is taking the work of individuals such as you and I to do it. The government agencies and doctors will not touch any of this. The government portrays all of ok down here.

Please Pass around and repost as you wish. Thank you!

Who is Coastal Justice

I am a born and raised Southern Girl from the Gulf. Born in Louisiana spent the first 4 years of my 37 years in Gretna, Louisiana. My daddy and all the men on his side of the family were all hard working offshore men. Now days my dad works overseas and I worry about him daily. He used to work out in once was a safe Gulf of Mexico.

My family and I moved and built a house here in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi right around 1978 or so. I grew up here once beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. I have watched Casinos and the Tourism Industry grow. I have worked almost 15 years of my life in the same Casino as a restaurant server. After the first 10 yrs. I took a break moved up north for 5 years decided this was home so came back. Now living in Waveland,Mississippi. I live in my grandmothers once devastated home by Hurricane Katrina with my partner. We survived Katrina down here on the Coast. Ground Zero in fact, however I do not foresee us overcoming this Deep Water Horizon Catastrophe of 2010.

My first interest in this story was the poor men that lost their lives. Then I thought about my dad whom goes overseas for months at a time laying pipeline in dangerous parts of our world. Then work started suffering. We were making no money. We had just upgraded to a new fine dining steak and seafood restaurant and sales should of been on the up rise. But just the opposite. Sales were down. Our normal tourism was down. The wonderful site from our brand new windows was of a barge and some boom watching and waiting for oil. Sure we had the beautiful sunset overlooking that huge barge out back. So when I heard I could put in a claim I did.

I was paid....Fishermen constantly were denied. Strippers were paid... More fishermen DENIED!!! Laundry attendants were paid and my CO WORKERS all DENIED???? How??? Made no sense to me. So we organized protest. Met new friends. Amy Sullivan, Brad Mc.Donald,Terrie,Lynn and Don you all know who you are. We fought the best fight. We did interviews with our local newspapers as well as USA TODAY. My co worker and I went on WLOX TV 13 and did a 10 minute interview on how unfair this GCCF claims process was.

This all is leading up to how I personal became involved in all of this. I made the Coastal Justice Facebook page to get the word out about the protest we did but I am so thankful to this day that I did just that. I would not have the knowledge and friends that I have today. It feels good to think that if I can just educate at least one person a day about what is going on down here in the Gulf Region it makes it all worth while.

So as we fight with Feinberg and the whole claims process something personal has arose for me pertaining to all of this....

First of all one of my good friends husband also a friend of mine has been so very sick. He worked on the clean up crew on the skiffs calling in oil. I believe he has been misdiagnosed and he was actually tested today hopefully within the next 10 days they will know something and if it is what I think it is he can start detoxification.

Then on a extremely personal level here is my brief story. My partner and I went to Gulf Shores twice at summers end as well as to Destin,Florida once in first of October. Each mini vacation we stayed at least 4 days. In Destin we only walked the beach and briefly in the water. However in August and September we swam daily in the waters of Gulf Shores. All signs said beaches were safe. We trusted that.

My partner in August the first trip to Gulf Shore on our last night there started showing odd health signs. We had been swimming and just relaxing on the beach all day long. That night about 10pm we went down to the outside hotel pool located on the beach side. After about 5 to 10 minutes she got very lightheaded and passed out where I had to catch her and help her out of the pool sit her down before getting her upstairs to our room. We considered going to ER but she said she just needed sleep was probably just tired. So ok ....

We had 2 more mini trips after that...She still never felt just right...Finally home for good back to the real world in Oct she gradually went downhill. She had numerous symptoms. Hallucinations, Nausea out of no where...headaches and loss of leg functions here and there and lethargic quite often. She thought she was coming down with the flu. Her physician had in the mean time put her on a blood pressure med. So again we thought maybe her body was getting used to that. She had visited the ER at our local hospital with severe nausea and they did nothing and sent her home. I forget how long after that but in November she got much worse and ended up going to Slidell Memorial. They were awesome to her. Her blood pressure was about bottomed out, she was bleeding internally, Ulcer, erosion of the esophagus and then we found out her kidneys were shutting down. She was put in ICU for about 3 days and she came home on I believe day 5. At the time I did not think this could be related to the Chemicals and the Oil from being in the Gulf Waters so much.

I have had a uncontrollable bladder since the end of October. No clue where that came from. I have a referral to a urologist but they can not see me till the end of April.

Our plans as soon as we have the money is to get her tested as well as myself. I have done so much research on this and it still blows my mind of the media not covering this. I have decided that somehow I want to make a career out of this line of work just not sure what. I have decided to pursue the possibility of college or some other form of a training program. I want the public informed. This has become my passion and life goal. This is the Gulf Coast that I love. I moved back here and I'm not going anywhere!

Please be patient as I continue to update this site. Please feel free to please leave comments.

Thanks,

Laurie Gayle
